Hi everyone, as schools begin to return, it is important to recognize that students on the spectrum need time to understand and adjust to new routines and precautions. It is important to let students on the spectrum know of these new routines and precautions before returning to school so as to allow them the time they need to adjust. 2018 Christmas Post
2018 was another amazing year, Elon Musk launched a Tesla Roadster into space, either demonstrating Tesla’s new delivery system or that Elon Musk has too much time on his hands. Australia got a new Prime Minister, again, making the job of Prime Minister the most undesirable and short-term job in government and youth began to do parliament’s job by making their voices heard at student organised protests and in a lot of ways were doing a better job of representing Australia’s views, however, what did the year look like for the autism community?
Recharge Rooms In Schools Pilot Program

Hi everyone, I have some exciting news. For the past 11 months, I have been working on a pretty cool project called the Recharge Rooms In Schools Program. This program allows schools to host one of my innovative Recharge Rooms permanently giving students of all abilities a safe and quiet space to go to relax and recharge at any point in the day that they feel overloaded. This program is one of a kind as it includes a consultation service in which I speak to school council, staff and students to design a space that suits the individual needs of your school and I assist in installing the space making the process as easy as possible. I am now looking for interested schools in Victoria to pilot this program in 2019. Pilot schools will be able to access this program at a subsidised cost and will act as a template for the future of this program. As many parents and teachers can agree this is a service that is long overdue, we lose too many young people who could possibly make a significant impact on our world because they cannot cope with mainstream school and it is time to act now before yet more young people slip between the cracks. They will be joined by 5 students from across the South West District to answer questions from educators so as improve their understanding of how to involve autistic students in classroom life.

Life after school
A little while ago I was interviewed by the ABC for an article about life after year 12 make sure you check it out."I hid my autism diagnosis for four years – I felt ashamed of being different. When you go from primary school to secondary school you have to re-build everything from scratch, and change isn’t our strong suit, and being social isn’t really either. But I ended up building a very good network of friends. I basically just started telling people I’m proud to be on the autism spectrum. I’m proud to be different. My ultimate goal is a world that embraces autism and difference in general.”Bryce Pace is a powerful advocate for people on the autism spectrum. It is Time to Change
People wonder why parents are scared to send their autistic child to a mainstream school. This is a good example of why.. Schools are not treating students equally and prefer to abuse students on the spectrum rather than teach them. Please read and share this so that we can make people aware of what is happening inside Australia’s schools. Emerging Leader
I am pleased to announce that I won the emerging leader category at the 2017 Victorian Disability Awards. These awards celebrate all the hard work that people do in advocating and providing services for people of different abilities in Victoria. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Victorian Student Representative Council for Nominating me for this award and everyone for your support over the past year. The Recharge Room
A few weeks ago, I was asked by Roger Holdsworth to write another article for the Connect Magazine. This time the article is about the Recharge room that was at the 2017 VicSRC Congress. I also discuss a little about how this room could be introduced into similar events.
